Fred Barnes was an Edwardian music hall performer. Today he would be called gay or even trans-sexual, but in his day he was simply known as "flamboyant". The title of the play comes from a series or articles he wrote after he fell from fame.
The play itself seems uncertain whether it is a play or a documentary. There is a jarring clunk as the participants - author Green and comedian cum music hall expert Roy Hudd - move from natural conversation to the script......

Never Give Up
Hmmm. I am also not rating this ...yet. I think there IS something going on, but in this age of instant gratification, one must thoroughly investigate such things.
Either I am too thick or this radio play is is obtuse. Since i am old and senile, i am going to give it another go.
PS: Alas, I AM too thick, Anonymous is obviously younger and NOT senile as I am. Therefore, we must consider Anonymous to be more competent to judge such things.
